Akira is a 1-year-old female doodle mix with a story that will stay with you forever. Back in February, our partners in Puerto Rico went to rescue another dog when they came across this small, nearly hairless girl who immediately stood out. She wasn’t scared—instead, she gently leaned in, just wanting to be touched and loved.

They learned she had been abandoned for months, left to survive on her own. During that time, she gave birth without a safe place for her puppies. Tragically, she experienced things no dog should ever have to go through—but even after everything, Akira never lost her gentle, loving spirit.

There was no way they could leave her behind.

Today, Akira is absolutely thriving. Her coat has grown in beautifully, and her long eyelashes make her even more stunning—but it’s her heart that truly shines. She is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and just wants to be close to her people. She loves attention, enjoys playing, and is great with other dogs.
