At The Maine Dog Rescue (MDR), our volunteers are the heart of our mission. As a volunteer-run, foster-based nonprofit, we rely on dedicated individuals who generously give their time, talents, and energy to help dogs in need.

Whether you have a few hours a month or want to get involved regularly, there's a place for you on our team!

Ways You Can Help

Transport & Transportation Assistance

Help welcome newly rescued dogs to Maine! Volunteers assist with transport pickups, getting dogs to their foster homes, veterinary appointments, and other transportation needs.

Adoption Applications & Administrative Support

Help our team behind the scenes by assisting with applications, reference checks, scheduling, and other administrative tasks. Some opportunities can even be done from home!

Events & Fundraising

Join us at adoption events, community gatherings, and fundraisers! Volunteers help with event setup, greeting visitors, sharing information about our rescue, and raising funds to support our dogs.

Social Media & Photography

Have a talent for photography, writing, graphic design, or social media? Help us showcase adoptable dogs, share their stories, create engaging content, and spread awareness about our mission.

Community Outreach

Help us build relationships with local businesses, organize donation drives, distribute rescue information, and introduce more people to The Maine Dog Rescue.

Supplies & Donation Coordination

Assist with collecting, organizing, and distributing donated food, crates, blankets, and other essential supplies to our foster families.

Foster Family Support

Help support our incredible foster families by delivering supplies, assisting with transportation, or lending a hand when additional help is needed.

Special Projects

From organizing raffles and fundraising campaigns to helping with seasonal events and rescue projects, there's always something happening behind the scenes!

Do I Need Experience?

Not at all! We welcome volunteers with different backgrounds, schedules, and skill sets.

Whether you're comfortable working directly with dogs, enjoy organizing events, or prefer helping from your computer, we'll work to find opportunities that match your interests and availability.
